More About Our Offerings
Anxiety and Depression
When symptoms such as no sleeping, persistent worry, loss of interests, disruption in eating, panic attacks etc. persist beyond two weeks, we need to address depression and/or anxiety as a diagnosis and treat accordingly.
Art Therapy
An experiential approach to therapy, art therapy engages the right hemisphere of our brain allowing us to connect to deep emotions, helping us fully process experiences, and gain new insights which might be more difficult to retrieve through traditional “talk” therapy. Adults, teens, and kids alike can benefit from this wonderful tool within the safe space of the therapy room.
Cancer Support
We believe that treating the psychological impact of cancer is just as important as treating the cancer.
Child and Adolescent Therapy
At Peace of Mind, we give adolescents the environment and support they need, and help parents and caregivers understand this complex developmental time.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a short-term, goal-oriented psychotherapy treatment that takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. CBT focuses on the development of personal coping strategies and changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
Couples Therapy
Couples face many life transitions such as welcoming children into the family, managing careers or entering into retirement. Other common concerns are communication, intimacy, sexual desire, parenting and finances, co-parenting after divorce, blended families, same sex couples, partners with religious difference and couples dealing with infertility or difficulties conceiving are natural areas of focus for couples.
Eating Disorders
Eating disorders impact both a person’s neurological and biological systems simultaneously. In cases that are acute, we will likely refer you out to a facility that offers more acute treatment but will offer a space for therapeutic work to continue with us once a person has stabilized.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. The goal of EMDR therapy is to process experiences that are causing problems, and to include new ones for optimal health and functioning. Ultimately, it is to leave a person with emotions, beliefs, body sensations, and understanding that will lead to adaptive behaviors and interactions in their present and future life.
Family Relationships
Sometimes families can become overwhelmed and concerns that at one point were mild become magnified. It’s common for clients to ask for our support in managing interactions with family members in a healthy way.
Grief and Loss
There is no one-size-fits-all approach or roadmap for dealing with grief. However, there is a golden rule that does apply: “It is better to work through grief than try to avoid it.”
Identity Expression and Exploration
Our identities are complex and unique. We strive to be allies for all clients, so creating an environment that is safe, exploratory and promotes an alignment of the individual’s authentic perception of self is paramount.
Infertility
There is no other experience that matches that of individuals or couples wanting a baby and being challenged with not being able to conceive. We help our individuals and couples by creating a comfortable, safe environment to share feelings and help them develop coping methods.
Maternal/Parental Mental Health
There is no “manual” on how to raise children and many parents can feel insecure, confused and frustrated when they are faced with new challenges and milestones.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
MBCT is an approach to psychotherapy that uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) methods in collaboration with mindfulness meditative practices and similar psychological strategies. This process aims to bring awareness to and decrease self-criticism, rumination, and dysphoric moods that can arise when reacting to negative thinking patterns.
Pregnancy Loss
Pregnancy loss may occur in as many as 1 in every 4 pregnancies. We offer a supportive space for processing this grief and loss as well as provide tools for healing.
Prepare and Enrich
Within these structured sessions (approx.. 8-10 sessions for married couples, 4-6 for premarital couples), couples will be supported in identifying strengths, enhancing communication, identifying stressful areas and working to resolve associated conflict, exploring family of origin, addressing financial concerns/needs, and recognizing personality differences. Prepare and Enrich is an out-of-pocket cost and is not covered by insurance.
Sexual Health and Wellness
We support our clients facing issues around sexual health including: sexual dysfunction, issues around arousal, discomfort, concerns with orgasm, sexual trauma, reconnecting through intimacy, and working through areas that may cause problematic behaviors.
Substance Use Assessment
This assessment involves gathering information about an individual’s substance use history to discern an active Substance Use Disorder diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Substance Use Assessments can be helpful for individuals who are needing to address their substance use due to legal, professional licensing, or personal family requirements.
