Jennifer Black, MSW, LCSW
While much of my therapeutic practice derives from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Family Systems strategies, a core piece of my approach is the understanding that each client deserves an individualized care plan. I specialize in working with children ages 4-11 who are experiencing anxiety. As my practice involves working with children, I also specialize in supporting parents, caregivers, and families in nurturing their mental health and self care, recognizing their crucial role in supporting the success of their kiddos.
My Therapy Beliefs
I believe therapy is a dynamic process, an ongoing exchange of thoughts, ideas, and skill development between client and therapist. To establish the important foundations of trust and safety in the therapeutic environment, I believe in a client-centered approach. Working as a team, together we’ll explore areas for support and set therapy goals. No two people consider, integrate, or connect with a skill set in the exact same way. My professional intentions are to incorporate evidenced based therapy practice with an individualized approach, designing a best fit for client needs.
My therapeutic focus is with children ages 4-11 who are experiencing anxiety. My therapy modalities include components of play, art, and more traditional talk/process oriented strategies.
A Person-Centered Approach
Often times people want change but aren’t sure how to do it by themselves. At Peace of Mind Therapy, we take a person-centered approach to mental health so people can gain a deeper sense of self as they face life’s twists and turns. No two experiences are alike, but we’re excited to partner with you as your process the challenges you’ve experienced.
